We learn the impact of wanting to be accepted, the importance of having our own criteria for acceptance, and the standard God has for us in order to be accepted by Him.
We have a particular need for acceptance by those in authority and who we want to be friends with. Being accepted leads to being treated with respect and afford status of some kind. Acceptance brings closeness. When people know that you accept them, trust develops. They open up more to you, and a closer bond develops. Although we set our criteria for acceptance and make adjustments to be accepted, one question comes to mind; why can't God have a criteria?
